Advice on contractor to perm recruitment : Recruitment

I’m seeking UK advice on something. I’m an internal recruiter – I’m supposed to be early careers so regular recruitment isn’t something I’m overly experienced in.

I’ve got loads of ex contractors applying for my perm roles, asking for salaries that they are used to through their contract work. These salaries are invariably above my budget per role (which are all thoroughly benchmarked and tend to be on the generous side anyway)

Do you think that with the current climate and also with IR35 there will come a point where ex contractors will drop their expectations down to regular perm salaries? Do you think it’s unreasonable for me to, when screening, tell them that they are pricing themselves too high for this perm role and not looking at it for the benefits (security, company perks etc)?
